Changing a flat tire is one of the most basic of all automotive repair jobs, and it’s something that every vehicle owner should know how to do. We here at Patrick BMW offer the following tips for handling this task so that you’re not left by the roadside in the event of a blowout or flat.
Before changing the tire, ensure that the ground is level and sufficiently stable to support the jack. Gather the jack, tire tool, spare tire and anything else that you’ll need so that you can perform the work quickly and without interruption.
Use the jack to raise the vehicle so that the flat tire is off the ground and accessible. Remove the hubcap, loosen the lug nuts with the tire tool and remove the old tire. Put the new tire on, replace the lug nuts and hubcap and then lower the vehicle safely back down to the ground.
