The BMW i3 and i3s earn eco-friendly status by repurposing plastics. Recycled bottles are woven into seat fabric, and scrap Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) from the production line is used to make new i3 passenger modules.

Kenaf, a sustainably grown and harvested type of hemp, is up to 30% lighter and more environmentally friendly than petroleum-based plastics. It's woven into a sturdy fiber to reinforce the dashboard and door trims.
