Charging a car battery is easier than you might think, but you should still pay attention to the root cause of why the battery is dead or dying. Try these simple steps for charging your car's battery.

Purchase or borrow a car charger that plugs into the wall. When you locate the negative and positive terminals on your car's battery, attach the red and black clamps to the appropriate ends. Red clamps fit the positive end, and black clamps go on the negative terminal. Once you are sure that the clamps are on, turn on the car charger to start sending the battery between two and six amps.

Every car charger is different. Some will shut off immediately once the battery reaches a full charge. Turn off the charger before removing the jumper cables and clamps from the battery terminals. The black clamp should be unhooked before removing the red one.
